Blind Cord Safety
Buyers and users of blinds and window furnishings should be aware of the hazard that can be posed by unrestrained cords, braids, loop chains and wires which may be hazardous to young children. Looped cords of all sorts are a strangulation hazard and should be kept out of reach of children.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) recommends that "pull cords on curtains and blinds should be kept out of reach" of children.
Control cord Tension Device
The Tension Device reduces the hazard of strangulation and entanglement of young children by limiting access to the control cord. The Tension Device that is attached to the shade's control cord or bead chain should be anchored to the frame or wall so that young children cannot pull the cord around their necks.
Fitting instructions
- Lower the shade or blind.
- Hold the Tension Device upright so the Warning tag hangs down as shown.
- Position the Tension Device on the window frame or the wall so that the Tension Device and control cord do not interfere with raising and lowering the shade.
Tension device should be installed without stretching or pulling down on the control cord. Stretching the cord will cause excessive wear. Do not twist or cross the control cord. - Holding the Tension Device upright, and in position as shown at right, insert the screw through the hole
Please note: The Tension Device is an optional extra and is sold separately.
